Our Story
We are Ann and Brandon Kinworthy. Nice to meet you! We met in nursing school, where we discovered we shared a passion for soccer and caring for others.
Ann started her career working as a registered nurse in a nursing home, providing care to patients recovering from surgery or illness, long term care residents, and hospice patients. She then went on to become a nurse practitioner and has been working in cardiology for the last 10 years.
Brandon is a nurse and nurse practitioner as well, finding joy in spending long hours learning from his patients over the years and especially the seniors. He has a job he loves working in clinical research now, and will support Ann as she brings her passion for people to Second Mile Home Care.
In our free time we enjoy catching a soccer game (go FC Cincinnati!) and taking our chief happiness officer for walks (her favorite). You might see Ann in the manatee tank at the zoo as she is a volunteer scuba diver at the Cincinnati Zoo. She also makes sure to say hi to every dog that crosses her path.
Our Why
Our work is personal. Our “why” has guided us in this journey.
Our first piece of our why, is our family. Ann’s grandma was diagnosed with dementia and ultimately required care in a memory unit. She received exceptional care that inspired Ann in her journey into nursing and more specifically her love of caring for seniors. We strive to provide the same level of exceptional care that she received, to our clients in their homes.
Our second piece of our why, is our caregivers. They are the heart and soul of this agency. We have encountered some amazing caregivers throughout the years (CNAs, STNAs, PCAs, etc). Caregivers are often not given the respect they deserve. Those caring for our loved ones should be given the HIGHEST level of respect. Our mission is to be a support system for caregivers by encouraging them, elevating the work they do, and providing a space for growth in their field.
Chief Happiness Officer
Meet our Chief Happiness Officer, Tippy! She has no official duties at Second Mile other than bringing joy to our team and anyone who would like to stop by.
Tippy and Grandma Ruth (Brandon’s grandma).
